1. Initial Inspection - Unpack your PowerPack batteries and visually inspect them to ensure no damage occurred during transport. Check that the electrical contacts are clean and free of dust or debris that could affect the connection.
2. Initial Full Charge - Before first use, fully charge each battery for approximately 90 minutes with a compatible DeWalt 20V MAX charger. This initial charge optimizes the capacity and lifespan of your PowerPack lithium-ion batteries.
3. Functionality Test - Insert the battery into a compatible 20V MAX tool until you hear the locking click. Press the LED indicator button to check the charge level and confirm that all three lights illuminate, indicating a full charge.
4. Familiarization with the Indicator - Learn to read the 3-level LED indicator: three lights on indicate a full charge, two lights represent approximately 66% charge, one light signals approximately 33%, and flashing indicates the need for immediate recharging.

Cleaning and Maintenance

Clean the exterior of PowerPack batteries with a slightly damp cloth, avoiding any water penetration into the electrical connectors or ventilation ports. Never use solvents, gasoline, or aggressive chemicals that could damage the plastic casing or overmolded base.

For electrical contacts, use a pencil eraser or a dry cloth to gently remove any traces of oxidation or accumulation of metallic residues. Ensure the contacts are perfectly dry before inserting the battery into a tool or charger to prevent any short circuit.

Regularly inspect the ventilation ports and use low-pressure compressed air to remove any accumulated wood, metal, or concrete dust. Never attempt to open the battery casing, as this will void the warranty and present significant safety risks.

Precautions for Use

Never expose PowerPack batteries to extreme temperatures above 50°C or below -20°C, as this could damage the lithium-ion cells and significantly reduce their performance and lifespan. Particularly avoid leaving batteries in closed vehicles during the Quebec summer.

Avoid violent shocks, drops, and impacts that could damage the internal structure or the electronic protection system. Although the overmolded base offers excellent protection, always handle batteries with care and store them in a secure place.

Never use batteries showing signs of physical damage, cracks, swelling, or leaks. If you notice any of these problems, stop using them immediately and contact Polar Industrial Equipment for advice on safe disposal and replacement.

Keep batteries away from flammable materials and never charge them near heat sources or in confined spaces without adequate ventilation. Never immerse batteries in water or any other liquid, even partially.

Storage Tips

Store your PowerPack batteries in a cool, dry place, ideally at room temperature between 15°C and 25°C, away from direct sunlight and excessive humidity that could cause corrosion on electrical contacts.

For prolonged storage of more than one month, maintain batteries at a charge level of approximately 40 to 60% rather than fully charged or completely discharged. Storing them fully charged or completely discharged can reduce their overall lifespan and maximum capacity.

Use the original manufacturer's packaging or a protective case to prevent accidental contact of the electrical terminals with metal objects such as keys, coins, or tools that could cause a dangerous short circuit.

Check and recharge the batteries at least every 3 months even if they are not in use, as lithium-ion batteries undergo natural self-discharge of approximately 1 to 2% per month. This practice maintains their electrochemical health and ensures they are ready for immediate use.
