First Use

Before your first use of the chain puller:

1. Full Inspection
   
   Check the chain, hooks and ratchet mechanism for any shipping damage before first use.
2. Secure Anchoring
   
   Attach the upper hook to an anchor point able to support the intended load, never to a weak structure.
3. No-load Test
   
   Operate the lever with no load to verify the ratchet and brake work properly before any real lift.
4. Gradual Loading
   
   Apply load gradually while watching the behavior of the chain and hooks.

Regular Maintenance

To maximize the lifespan of your chain puller:

After each use:

• Wipe down the chain and housing to remove dust, mud and moisture
• Store the chain coiled without twists to prevent deformation
• Visually check the hooks and deformation indicator

Lubrication:

• Apply light oil to the grade 80 chain every 1 to 3 months depending on usage
• Avoid excess oil on the ratchet mechanism and brake, which can reduce their effectiveness

Cleaning and Maintenance

Periodic maintenance:

1. Lifting Chain
   
   Inspect each link for cracks, corrosion or excessive wear. Replace the chain at the slightest doubt.
2. Ratchet Mechanism
   
   Check that the pawl engages firmly with each stroke of the lever, with no play or slipping.
3. Hooks and Latches
   
   Make sure the safety latches close fully and the deformation indicator stays aligned.

Recommended products: light chain oil or penetrating lubricant.

Avoid: thick grease that traps dirt, and harsh solvents on steel components.

Safety Precautions

For your safety:

• Never exceed the 3/4 ton rated capacity: overloading can damage the chain or cause sudden failure.
• Never lift or move people: this tool is designed exclusively for lifting and pulling material loads.
• Check the anchor point before each pull: an unstable anchor point can give way under tension.
• Wear gloves and safety glasses: a chain under tension can pinch or throw debris.
• Never leave a load suspended unattended: release or secure the load before leaving the work area.

Storage Tips

Short-term storage:

Store the chain puller in a dry place between uses, chain coiled without twists.

Long-term storage (1+ month):

Apply a thin coat of oil to the chain and housing, then store in a container or on a rack away from moisture.

Winter storage in Canada:

Moisture combined with freezing temperatures promotes corrosion of the chain and mechanism. Store indoors, in a heated space if possible, and check the chain's condition before spring reuse.

Brake or ratchet issues not caused by negligence or poor maintenance.

What JET will do:

• Full replacement: if repair is not possible or not economical

Warranty Exclusions

The warranty does NOT cover:

• Normal Wear: chain, ratchet and hooks that wear naturally with intensive use.
• Overloading: use beyond the 3/4 ton rated capacity.
• Physical Damage: drops, impacts or corrosion caused by improper storage.
• Maintenance Neglect: chain never lubricated or cleaned.
• Unauthorized Modifications: any modification to the mechanism voids the warranty.
