- Liquid saline eyewash solution freezes easily during transport in cold winter temperatures. If the solution in individual eyewash bottles freezes, thaw and shake vigorously to thoroughly mix the salts before use. If the bottle collapses once thawed, this indicates a small puncture caused by expansion during freezing, and the bottle should be discarded.
