Care and Usage

First Use

Preparation and activation of your AC200+ anchoring adhesive:

1. Control the cartridge temperature

Ensure the cartridge is stored between 5°C and 40°C before use. For installations in base temperatures between -10°C and -5°C, precondition the cartridge at a minimum of 10°C for 2 hours.

2. Install the mixing nozzle

Remove the protective cap from the cartridge. Screw a new static mixing nozzle firmly onto the tip of the dual cartridge. Always use a new nozzle for each work session.

3. Purge and prime the system

Insert the cartridge into the applicator gun. Squeeze the first two inches of adhesive onto a scrap surface to remove air and ensure thorough mixing. The adhesive should come out a uniform gray once properly mixed.

4. Check the hole preparation

Before injection, confirm that all holes are drilled to the correct diameter, cleaned with a wire brush, and blown out with an oil-free air pump. Clean holes are critical for maximum adhesion.

Regular Maintenance

To maximize the lifespan and performance of your cartridges:

After each use:

Immediately release the pressure on the gun after injection to stop the adhesive flow. Wipe any excess adhesive from the cartridge nozzle with a clean cloth. Leave the mixing nozzle installed on the cartridge to protect the residual adhesive from air and moisture until the next use.

Mixing nozzle management:

Always replace the mixing nozzle if the cartridge is left inactive for more than 30 minutes or between work sessions. A partially hardened nozzle compromises the mixing ratio and reduces anchoring performance. Always keep spare nozzles on the job site.

Storage between uses:

Store partially used cartridges upright in their original packaging. Maintain the storage temperature between 0°C and 35°C. Inspect the cartridge before reuse and replace it if there is visible hardening or separation of components.

Cleaning and Maintenance

Cleaning of application equipment:

Applicator gunAfter each use, disassemble and clean the pressure mechanism with a dry cloth. Remove any hardened adhesive residue from the cartridge holder. Lightly lubricate the piston threaded rod with light oil monthly.

Used mixing nozzlesDo not attempt to clean or reuse the nozzles. The acrylic adhesive hardens rapidly and cleaning is impossible. Dispose of used nozzles in your regular waste after they have fully hardened.

Auxiliary toolsClean the metal hole cleaning brushes with a degreasing solvent after use. Purge and dry the air pump to prevent concrete dust from accumulating in the mechanism.

Precautions for Use

For your safety and optimal performance:

Never exceed the installation temperature limits of -10°C to 40°C, as this directly affects the setting time and final strength of the anchor. Installations outside this range can lead to structural failure.

Never use the AC200+ cartridge with incompatible or damaged mixing nozzles. Improper mixing of the components results in uncured adhesive and anchors that do not meet certified load ratings.

Never install in frozen, frosted, or exposed concrete, as adhesion will be severely compromised. If necessary, warm the anchoring area above -5°C before installation.

Never exceed the expiry date indicated on the cartridge. Expired adhesive may exhibit component separation, abnormal viscosity, or unpredictable setting times, compromising structural integrity.

Always wear appropriate personal protective equipment, including safety glasses and chemical-resistant gloves, when handling and injecting acrylic adhesive. Ensure adequate ventilation of the work area.

Storage Tips

Short-term storage (less than 3 months):

Store new and partially used cartridges upright in their original protective packaging. Maintain an ambient temperature between 5°C and 30°C for optimal lifespan. Avoid direct sunlight or heat sources, which can accelerate premature aging of the components.

Long-term storage (3 months and more):

Store in a temperate location between 0°C and 25°C with controlled relative humidity below 80%. Check the cartridge seals monthly for any visible separation of components. Use the oldest cartridges first, following the FIFO (First In, First Out) principle. Maximum shelf life is 18 months from the date of manufacture.

Winter storage in Quebec:

Never store cartridges in unheated vehicles or outdoor trailers during Quebec winters. Freezing the components will irreversibly damage their adhesive properties. If temporary cold storage is unavoidable, gradually warm the cartridges to room temperature for at least 12 hours before use, without ever using direct or accelerated heating.

Our answers to your questions about DeWalt AC200+ Adhesive

At what temperature can I install DeWalt AC200+?

The AC200+ anchoring adhesive operates within an exceptional temperature range of -10°C to 40°C, which sets it apart from traditional epoxy systems limited to a minimum of 5°C. This unique capability allows winter installations on Quebec jobsites without work stoppages.

For base temperatures between -10°C and -5°C, preheat the cartridge to at least 10°C for 2 hours before use. Cure time will be longer in cold weather: up to 24 hours at -10°C compared to 45 minutes at 20°C.

Always consult the manufacturer’s cure time table before applying load to the anchors to ensure full curing and nominal strength.

What is the difference between DeWalt AC200+ and epoxy adhesives like Hilti?

The main differences involve chemical composition and application conditions:

Composition:

  • AC200+: Hybrid acrylic with fast cure, automatically mixed in a static nozzle
  • Standard epoxy: Epoxy-amine resin with critical, more sensitive mixing

Installation temperature range:

  • AC200+: -10°C to 40°C
  • Typical epoxy: 5°C to 40°C

Wet conditions:

  • AC200+: Works in water-saturated holes without performance loss
  • Epoxy: Requires dry or slightly damp holes only

Cure time and productivity:

  • AC200+: Fast curing, accelerated load application
  • Epoxy: Generally slower, longer waiting times

Applications:

Both are suitable for certified structural applications, but AC200+ provides superior flexibility for Quebec jobsites with variable temperature and humidity conditions.

Does AC200+ work in damp concrete or water-filled holes?

Yes, absolutely. AC200+ is specifically approved for installation in three conditions:

  • Standard dry concrete
  • Wet or saturated concrete
  • Holes completely filled with water

This unique versatility eliminates drying delays and allows work to continue in new foundations, exterior repairs in the rain, or areas with high groundwater.

Important: even in saturated conditions, always thoroughly clean holes with a wire brush and air pump to remove debris and concrete laitance. Cleanliness remains critical for maximum adhesion despite the presence of water.

For optimal performance in saturated holes, inject adhesive from the bottom up in a continuous motion to progressively push water ahead of the adhesive front.

What is included with the AC200+ cartridge and what else do I need?

Your purchase includes:

  • 1 dual 9.5 oz (280 ml) cartridge of AC200+ acrylic adhesive

Essential separately sold accessories:

  • DeWalt PFC1641600 static mixing nozzles (pack of 10): One new nozzle required per work session
  • Standard 10 oz manual dispensing gun: Applies adhesive smoothly into holes

Hole preparation equipment:

  • Carbide percussion drill bit of appropriate diameter
  • Wire brush for hole cleaning
  • Oil-free air pump for debris blowing
  • Threaded rods or rebar meeting manufacturer specifications

Refer to our Complementary Accessories section for complete system ordering. Our team can guide you in selecting the optimal setup based on your specific application.

How long should I wait before loading the anchor?

Cure time varies significantly depending on base concrete temperature:

  • At 20°C: 45 minutes
  • At 10°C: 2 hours
  • At 0°C: 6 hours
  • At -5°C: 12 hours
  • At -10°C: 24 hours

These times represent the minimum delay before applying full nominal loads. For partial loads or light handling, consult the manufacturer’s detailed technical tables.

Always measure the actual concrete surface temperature with an infrared thermometer—not the ambient air temperature. Mass concrete retains temperatures different from the surrounding air.

For critical projects or seismic loads, wait 72 hours for full polymerization before final service, regardless of temperature.

Never speed up the cure with artificial heating, as this compromises the final mechanical properties of the anchor.

How do I properly clean the holes before injecting the adhesive?

Professional hole cleaning is the most critical step to ensure maximum anchor strength. Follow this 3-step procedure:

Mechanical brushing:

Use a wire brush equal to or slightly larger than the hole diameter. Insert and remove it with vigorous rotation 5–10 times to loosen laitance, dust, and friable particles on the walls.

Air blowing:

Using a manual pump or oil-free compressor, blow from the bottom upward for at least 10 seconds. Repeat until no dust exits the hole.

Re-brushing and final blowing:

Repeat a light brushing followed by a final blow to remove debris loosened during the first brushing.

Final visual inspection: the hole must appear clean with sound concrete exposed on all walls. For water-saturated holes, perform cleaning before filling.

Never use solvents, oils, or pressurized water—they contaminate concrete pores and reduce chemical adhesion.

Does the AC200+ system withstand Quebec climate and freeze-thaw cycles?

Absolutely. AC200+ has been rigorously evaluated and certified specifically for performance under repeated freeze-thaw cycles in accordance with applicable ASTM standards. This certification ensures your anchors maintain structural integrity despite the extreme temperature variations typical of Quebec.

Climate-specific advantages:

  • Continuous service range: -40°C to 80°C ensures performance during the harshest Quebec winters and summer heat waves.
  • Winter installation: Unique ability to install down to -10°C eliminates seasonal jobsite shutdowns unlike standard epoxy.
  • Outdoor durability: Formulation withstands daily freeze-at-night/thaw-by-day cycles during Quebec’s spring and fall, which quickly degrade non-certified systems.
  • Marine applications: Approved for structures exposed to saltwater, ice, and severe humidity conditions.

To ensure maximum performance, always follow recommended installation procedures including meticulous hole cleaning and proper curing time based on temperature. Complete technical documentation is available for structural inspections and code compliance.
