First Use

Getting your DeWalt DCV580H vacuum ready:

1. Battery installation
   
   Insert a charged DeWalt 20V MAX battery until it clicks into place. Check that it's properly seated before starting.
2. HEPA filter check
   
   Make sure the filter is properly installed and dry before any use, even in dry mode.
3. Choosing the vacuum mode
   
   Attach the right nozzle for the task: crevice tool for corners, wide nozzle for flat surfaces.
4. Dry test run
   
   Run the unit for a few seconds with nothing to vacuum to confirm suction works normally before starting.

Regular Maintenance

To maximize your vacuum's lifespan:

After each use:

• Empty the tank, especially after vacuuming wet debris
• Remove the battery before cleaning the unit
• Check that the hose isn't clogged with debris

Filter care:

• Rinse the HEPA filter with water after wet use or when suction decreases
• Let it dry completely before reinstalling, never damp
• Replace the filter if it's torn or too worn to filter effectively

Cleaning and Maintenance

Regular cleaning of the unit:

1. Tank
   
   Rinse the tank with mild soapy water after vacuuming wet debris, then let it air dry.
2. HEPA filter
   
   Rinse under cold water without scrubbing the filter surface. Let dry for at least 24 hours before reinstalling.
3. Seals and nozzles
   
   Wipe the nozzles with a damp cloth and check that the seals aren't cracked.

Recommended products: mild soapy water for the tank, clean water for the filter.

Avoid: solvents, abrasive products, and compressed air directly on the HEPA filter.

Precautions

For your safety and your equipment's:

• Never use without the HEPA filter installed : the motor isn't protected against fine particles without a filter in place.
• Don't let the tank overflow in wet mode : empty it as soon as the level nears the 2-gallon (7.6-liter) maximum.
• Avoid vacuuming flammable materials or chemical liquids : the unit is designed for water and common job site debris.
• Never store the filter wet : this promotes mold and reduces filtering efficiency.
• Remove the battery before any maintenance : prevents accidental startup during cleaning.

Storage Tips

Short-term storage:

Store the vacuum with an empty tank and a dry filter, somewhere accessible in the truck or workshop.

Long-term storage (1+ month):

Clean the tank and filter, remove the battery from the unit, and store everything in a dry place.

Winter storage in Canada:

The lithium-ion battery is sensitive to extreme cold: keep it in a temperate location (above 0°C if possible), separate from the vacuum if it stays in an unheated truck or shed.
