First Use

Activating your new DeWalt battery:

1. Full initial charge - Before first use, charge the battery until all 3 LEDs stay lit continuously. Allow about 90 minutes with a standard charger or 60 minutes with a fast charger.
2. Check the LED indicator - Press the test button to confirm all 3 LEDs light up correctly. Rapid flashing signals a battery that's too hot or too cold.
3. Test on a compatible tool - Install the battery on a DeWalt 20V MAX tool by aligning the guide rails and pushing firmly until it clicks. The battery should lock in solidly with no play.
4. Label it - Note the date it was put into service on the base to track its history and plan future replacement.

Regular Maintenance

After each use:

• Remove the battery from the tool if unused for more than 15 minutes
• Wipe the charging contacts with a dry cloth
• Visually check for cracks or damage to the housing

What Is Covered

The DeWalt and Polar Industrial Equipment limited warranty covers:

Manufacturing defects - Any anomaly resulting from the manufacturing process including faulty welds, incorrect lithium-ion cell assembly, or internal electronic circuit failure. DeWalt will repair or replace batteries with these defects free of charge during the warranty period.

Material defects - Defective lithium-ion cells causing premature capacity loss, plastic casing cracking without external impact, faulty charging contacts, or non-functional LED indicators upon receipt. Also covers loose internal connectors and manufactured sealing problems.

Abnormal performance - Batteries losing more than 50 percent of nominal capacity during the first year of normal use, inability to hold a charge, excessive overheating during standard operation, or rapid spontaneous discharge without use. These symptoms indicate a covered defect if used as intended.

DeWalt labor - All diagnostic, repair, and replacement costs assumed by DeWalt during the warranty period. No hidden fees for evaluation or return shipping to customer after repair.

Warranty Exclusions
