To improve the performance of your tools and extend battery life, Makita created Star Protection Computer Controls™. Star Protection is a communication technology that allows the tool and battery equipped with Star Protection to exchange data in real time and monitor operating conditions to protect them against overload, over-discharge, and overheating. Makita LXT batteries equipped with Star Protection, including the new BL1860, provide additional protection when used with an LXT tool also equipped with Star Protection.
Makita 18V lithium-ion batteries deliver consistent power and runtime in extreme temperatures, even in winter (-20°C/-4°F). The impact-resistant outer casing and shock-absorbing inner lining are designed to protect the battery. Each battery features sixteen contact terminals to maintain a constant connection with the tool, preventing power loss or fluctuations, even in high-vibration applications. The Makita Rapid Optimum Charger (sold separately) is an intelligent charging system that communicates with the battery during charging to monitor current, voltage, and temperature. This advanced charging technology maximizes battery life and enables faster charging. Additionally, the charger is equipped with a built-in fan to cool the battery, allowing for faster and more efficient charging, even in warm weather.
