First Use

Before first use, follow these steps to prepare your magnetic drill:

1. Check the cord and housing - Inspect the power cord and housing for damage before plugging in the drill.
2. Fill the coolant pump - Fill the supplied coolant pump to protect the annular cutter from the first drilling operation.
3. Attach the safety strap - Secure the safety strap to the workpiece before drilling in vertical, horizontal, or overhead positions.
4. Install the cutter with the ratchet - Use the supplied 1/2 in. ratchet to install the cutter in tight spaces where a standard wrench won't fit.

Regular Maintenance

Regular maintenance extends the magnetic drill's service life and keeps drilling precision consistent.

After each use:

• Wipe down the housing and magnetic base to remove chips and cutting residue
• Empty and clean the coolant pump
• Store the drill in its L-BOXX 238 case

Magnetic base care:

• Keep the magnetic base surface free of rust and chips for optimal magnetic force
• Check that the work surface is clean and paint-free before each setup

Cleaning and Maintenance

Recommended periodic maintenance:

1. Brushless motor cleaning - Remove metal dust from ventilation openings with low-pressure compressed air. The brushless motor requires no carbon brush replacement.
2. Tilt sensor check - Periodically test the tilt sensor to confirm automatic shutoff in case of slippage.
3. Ratchet handle lubrication - Apply a thin layer of lubricant to the ratchet mechanism for smooth movement.

Safety Precautions

For your safety:

• Non-magnetic work surface - Avoid using the drill on a surface that won't hold the magnet, as the setup would not be secure.
• Removing the cutter before full stop - Wait for the spindle to come to a complete stop before removing the cutter or chips.
• Drilling without the safety strap - Never drill overhead or in elevated positions without securing the supplied safety strap.
• Use in unstable confined spaces - Make sure the base rests fully on the metal surface; the tilt sensor may trigger if stability is compromised.

Storage Tips

Short-term storage:

• Store the drill in its L-BOXX case, away from moisture, between job sites

Long-term storage:

• Fully empty the coolant pump and store in a dry location at a stable temperature

Winter storage in Canada:

• Avoid storing the drill in an unheated area where the coolant fluid could freeze; drain the pump before winter
