First use

Before first using your Makita hammer driver-drill:

1. Install the keyless chuck: attach the included chuck to the tool's spindle and hand-tighten it firmly.
2. Insert a compatible 18V LXT battery: slide the charged battery into the compartment until it clicks. Batteries sold separately.
3. Select the mode and speed: adjust the speed selector (1 or 2) and drilling or hammer mode based on the task.
4. Set the clutch: choose from the 21 clutch settings based on the hardness of the material you're fastening into.

Regular maintenance

Simple maintenance extends the life of your tool.

After each use:

• Remove the battery before cleaning or storing the tool
• Wipe off dust and debris built up around the chuck
• Check that the belt hook is securely attached

Battery care:

• Recharge the battery at room temperature
