First Use

Activating your new DeWalt shop vacuum:

1. Assembling the casters

Turn the vacuum cleaner upside down on a protected surface. Attach the four swivel casters to the pre-molded brackets under the dustbin using the self-tapping screws provided. Tighten firmly but not excessively to avoid cracking the plastic. Turn the unit right side up and check that all casters are in even contact with the floor and swivel freely.

2. Installing the cartridge filter

Open the side latches to remove the motor cover. Insert the DXVC6910 washable cartridge filter onto the center support, pushing it in until it clicks into place. Ensure the foam gasket is properly positioned all around to prevent air leaks. If using a disposable filter bag, install it now by sliding it onto the inner rim of the tank. Replace and lock the motor cover.

3. Connecting the accessories

Connect the 7-foot flexible hose to the main suction port on the side of the unit until you hear a safety click. Attach the rigid extension tubes to the end of the hose to the desired length. Choose the appropriate nozzle for your first task and firmly attach it to the end of the extension tube. All attachments should fit easily.

4. Pre-start check

Fully extend the 20-foot power cord from the rear rewind system and plug it into a standard 120V wall outlet. Ensure the tank is empty and clean. Flip the water-resistant on/off switch for a quick, few-second test. Listen to the two-stage motor; it should be remarkably quiet compared to a standard vacuum cleaner. Regular Maintenance

To maximize the lifespan of your DeWalt 10-gallon shop vacuum:

After each use:

• Empty the tank completely, even if it's only half full, to prevent mold and odors.

Cleaning and Maintenance

Thorough quarterly cleaning:

Polyethylene tank

Fill the reservoir with warm, soapy water and let it soak for 15 minutes. Scrub the inside with a soft brush to remove any stuck-on residue. Rinse thoroughly with clean water and allow to dry completely upside down before next use. Avoid harsh solvents that can damage the plastic.

Washable cartridge filter

Soak in warm water with a few drops of mild dish soap for 10 minutes. Gently massage the pleats to loosen embedded particles without tearing the filter media. Rinse under running water until the water runs clear. Shake off excess water and hang to dry completely before reuse.

Hose and accessories

Run a cloth dampened with soapy water through the inside of the flexible hose, pulling from one end to the other. Rinse the rigid fittings and nozzles under running water. Wipe all surfaces with a dry cloth to prevent rust on metal parts. Store in a dry place after cleaning.

External motor housing

Wipe the yellow and black cover with a damp cloth and mild detergent. Clean the air vents with a soft brush to maintain optimal airflow. Never immerse the motor housing in water. Avoid high-pressure cleaners, which can force water into electrical components.

Frequency :Perform this complete cleaning every 3 months in intensive use, or twice a year in moderate use.

Precautions for Use

Storage Tips

Short-term storage (daily or weekly use):

Empty and clean the tank after each use. Leave the lid slightly ajar to allow for complete evaporation of residual moisture and prevent mold. Wrap the cord around the integrated system and store the hose and accessories in the provided bag. Place the unit in your workshop, garage, or work vehicle for quick access.

Long-term storage (more than 30 days without use):

Perform a complete cleaning, including washing the dustbin and cartridge filter. Thoroughly dry all components before storing. Remove and store the filter separately in a clean plastic bag to protect it from dust. Wrap the nozzles in newspaper to prevent scratches and impacts. Store the vacuum cleaner in a dry place, away from excessive humidity, extreme temperatures, and direct sunlight.

Winter storage in Quebec:

If storing in an unheated garage or outdoor shed during Quebec winters, protect from sub-zero temperatures, which can weaken the plastic. Place on a raised pallet to avoid contact with icy ground. Cover with a breathable tarp, but do not seal tightly. Check the condition of the joints and hose in the spring, as freeze-thaw cycles can cause cracks. Perform a complete inspection before putting back into service.

What Is Covered

The DeWalt limited warranty covers:

Manufacturing defects

Any manufacturing defect affecting the normal operation of the vacuum cleaner, including defective assembly, misaligned components, or parts not fitting together correctly according to the manufacturer's specifications.

Material defects

Defective materials manifesting as premature cracking of the polyethylene tank, failure of the casters, breakage of the cord winding system or abnormal deterioration of plastic components under normal use.

Labor and parts

Warranty Exclusions

The warranty does NOT cover:

Normal wear and tear of components

Gradual deterioration of the cartridge filter, cosmetic scratches on the tank, wear on the rubber wheels, sagging of the flexible hose after prolonged use, or discoloration of the housing exposed to sunlight. These are considered normal consumables.

Damage caused by misuse

Vacuum cleaner used for vacuuming prohibited materials such as hot ashes, corrosive chemicals, uncured cement, nails, or sharp debris that will puncture the tank. Use without an installed filter will damage the motor.

Neglect and lack of maintenance

Failures resulting from lack of regular filter cleaning, excessive accumulation of debris blocking airflow, prolonged storage in humid conditions causing mold, or failure to empty the tank after vacuuming liquids.

Unauthorized modifications and repairs

Any alteration, modification, disassembly by unqualified personnel, use of non-original DeWalt parts, or attempted repair outside the DeWalt authorized service network will automatically void the warranty.

Accidents and physical injuries

Falls causing cracks or breakage, crushing by vehicle or heavy equipment, damage due to transportation after initial purchase, exposure to extreme frost, flooding or other natural disasters not covered.

Consumable parts

Disposable filter bags, cartridge filter after normal wear, suction accessories such as nozzles and extensions, flexible hose that has reached the end of its useful life, or any wear part identified as consumable in the user manual.
