First Use

Before using your DC18RD charger for the first time:

1. Plug in the charger Use a standard 120V outlet in good condition.
2. Check the ports Make sure both ports are clean and free of dust before inserting a battery.
3. Insert the batteries Insert one or two compatible Makita batteries until they click into place. The indicator light shows charge status.
4. Let the fan run freely Don't block the ventilation slots during charging for optimal cooling.

Regular Maintenance

After each use:

• Unplug the charger if it won't be used for an extended period.
• Wipe off dust accumulated on the housing and ports.

Port care:

• Keep the metal contacts on both ports clean and dry.
• Check the power cord condition regularly.
