STANLEY 16-300
Stanley Works, originally a manufacturer of locks and door hardware in New Britain, Connecticut, was founded in 1843 by Frederick T. Stanley. A few years later, in 1857, Frederick's cousin, Henry Stanley, founded the Stanley Rule and Level Company. In 1920, the Rule and Level Company merged with Stanley Works and became its renowned hand tool division. Over the years, Stanley Works has produced some of the most innovative and practical tools ever created. These tools include the Bailey plane, the Surform router, the PowerLock tape measure, and, more recently, the FatMax line. Today more than ever, Stanley remains an industry leader in tool innovation. In 2001, Stanley launched more than 100 new products, bringing the total number of new products launched in the previous four years to 400. As a direct result of its commitment to excellence, Stanley received the prestigious Golden Hammer Award, awarded for new product innovation in 2000 and 2001.
