First Use

Preparing your new CPT88Z post base:

1. Initial inspection:Check the integrity of all components included in the kit. Ensure that the ZMAX galvanization is uniform and free of damaged areas. Confirm the presence of both galvanized plugs and washers.

2. Measuring and marking the post:Cut a vertical slot 7/8 inch wide and 5 inches deep, centered on the end of the 8x8 post, to accommodate the concealed blade. Use the blade as a template to accurately mark the location of the dowel holes.

3. Positioning and anchoring:Mark the exact location on the concrete slab according to your structural plan. Drill 1/2-inch anchor holes according to the specifications of your chosen anchor manufacturer. Install the mechanical or adhesive anchors as instructed.

4. Assembly and final fixing:Insert the concealed blade into the post slot, position the assembly on the concrete-fixed clearance base, and then install the galvanized anchors with washers to secure the connection. Check the post is plumb before final tightening.

Annual Maintenance

To maximize the lifespan of your CPT88Z post base:

After every Quebec winter:

Visually inspect the base for any signs of surface corrosion or debris buildup below the 1-inch clearance.
Clean the clearance area by removing leaves, soil, and debris that could trap moisture against the wood.

Warranty Exclusions

The warranty does NOT cover:

❌Normal wear and tear:Natural discoloration of the galvanization due to prolonged exposure to the elements, superficial scratches or normal installation marks not compromising structural integrity.

❌Physical damage:Impacts, shocks, bending, twisting or deformation caused by improper handling during transport, storage or installation.

❌Incorrect installation:Failures resulting from installation not in accordance with manufacturer's instructions, use of inadequate anchors, overloading exceeding nominal capacities or modification of the product.

❌Extreme environmental conditions:Continuous exposure to corrosive chemicals, concentrated de-icing salt, prolonged immersion in water or permanent direct contact with the ground.

❌Neglect and lack of maintenance:Lack of periodic inspection, accumulation of debris under uncleaned clearance, or any obvious neglect of basic maintenance.
