First Use

Before putting the M18 0880-20 vacuum into service, a few simple steps ensure optimal performance from the very first cleanup.

1. Package inspection: Verify all accessories are present (6-ft hose, flat nozzle, utility nozzle). Ensure the HEPA filter is correctly installed.
2. Installing the M18 battery: Insert a fully charged Milwaukee M18 battery into the battery compartment. A click confirms correct placement.
3. Connecting the hose: Connect the 6-foot flexible hose to the vacuum inlet. Attach the desired accessory to the other end.
4. Function test: Turn on the vacuum and test suction on a small amount of dry debris to confirm the filter and connections are properly in place.

Daily Maintenance

Regular maintenance extends the life of the vacuum and maintains optimal suction performance.

After each use:

• Empty the tank before debris exceeds the maximum fill line
• Rinse the tank with clean water if used to vacuum liquids
• Lightly tap the HEPA filter over a trash can to remove fine dust deposits
• Remove the battery before any cleaning or extended storage

HEPA filter cleaning:

• Rinse the filter under warm water and let it air dry completely (minimum 24 hours) before reinstalling
• Never use the vacuum with a wet filter, risk of motor damage
• Replace with model 49-90-1900 after 100 hours of heavy use or when it shows signs of wear

Safety Precautions

For your safety:

• Do not vacuum flammable or explosive materials: Very fine sawdust, hot ashes and flammable liquids can cause fire or explosion.
• Do not vacuum unwrapped sharp objects: Screws, nails or sharp metal debris can puncture the hose or damage the HEPA filter.
• Check tank capacity before extended use: A full tank reduces suction performance and can damage the motor.
• Do not submerge the unit: The M18 vacuum tolerates liquid vacuuming in the tank but is not designed to operate underwater.

Storage Tips

Short-term storage:

• Empty and clean the tank before any storage exceeding 24 hours
• Coil the hose without sharp bends to prevent cracking
• Use the integrated storage to keep accessories with the unit

Cold Canadian winter storage:

• Never leave the M18 battery in an unheated space below -20°C, store it indoors to preserve capacity
• Allow the vacuum to return to room temperature for 30 minutes after cold exposure before starting
• Ensure the tank is completely dry before winter storage to avoid ice formation

What Is Covered

The Milwaukee warranty covers defects in materials and workmanship under normal use conditions:

Manufacturing defects: Any defect occurring during normal use not attributable to an accident, negligence or misuse.

Electrical failure: Motor, control circuit or internal component failures occurring under normal use conditions.

Mechanical failure: Internal part breakage resulting from a material defect, not misuse.

Defective HEPA filter on delivery: A filter showing defects upon receipt is covered under the manufacturer's warranty.

What Milwaukee will do:

• Repair or replace the defective product at no charge within the warranty period
• Cover parts and labour for covered repairs
• Provide a replacement product if repair is not possible

Warranty Exclusions

The warranty does NOT cover:

• Normal wear: The HEPA filter, tank seal and flexible hose are wear parts not covered after normal use.
• Physical damage: Cracks or breakage caused by dropping, impact or crushing.
• Misuse: Vacuuming non-recommended materials (corrosive liquids, hot ashes, flammable materials), use with a wet filter.
• Unauthorized modifications: Any repair by someone other than an authorized Milwaukee technician voids the warranty.
• Maintenance neglect: Damage caused by failure to follow maintenance procedures in the user manual.
