Recommended Accessories

To protect your face while welding, Polar Industrial Equipment offers these Lincoln Electric accessories:

Care and Usage

First Use

Before welding for the first time, follow these 4 setup steps.

  1. Select your voltage: 120V (standard outlet) or 230V with the included adapter. Check that your breaker matches the required amperage.
  2. Install the wire spool: Load the SuperArc L-56 spool onto the wire feeder and install the matching drive roll.
  3. Set up shielding gas (MIG welding): Connect the included regulator to your CO2 or argon/CO2 cylinder. Recommended flow: 15-25 cfh.
  4. Adjust settings: Use the built-in parameter chart inside the machine panel to select voltage and wire speed based on metal thickness.

Regular Maintenance

After each use:

  • Remove spatter from the gas nozzle with a wire brush
  • Replace the contact tip if the opening is enlarged or irregular
  • Cover the machine to protect it from dust and debris

Monthly maintenance:

  • Blow out ventilation slots with compressed air (machine unplugged)
  • Inspect the power cable for signs of wear or damage
  • Check drive rolls - replace if the groove is worn or deformed

Safety Precautions

For your safety:

  • Always wear a proper welding helmet - arc light causes severe eye burns
  • Weld in a ventilated area - welding fumes are harmful to your health
  • Do not use in rain or very damp environments - electric shock hazard
  • Keep a fire extinguisher nearby - sparks can ignite combustible materials

Storage

Short-term storage:

  • Dry location, temperature between -10C and 40C
  • Use a protective cover to prevent dust buildup

Winter storage in Canada:

  • Avoid storing below -10C for extended periods
  • If exposed to cold, allow 30 minutes at room temperature before use
  • Remove the wire spool when storing in damp environments to prevent rust

Frequently Asked Questions - Lincoln Electric POWER MIG 211i K6080-1 MIG Welder

Does the POWER MIG 211i work on a standard 120V outlet?

Yes, the POWER MIG 211i supports both voltages: 120V (standard outlet) and 230V (industrial circuit). A 230V-to-120V adapter is included in the box. No modification required.

What welding processes does this machine support?

The POWER MIG 211i supports three processes: MIG (GMAW) with shielding gas, flux-cored (FCAW) without gas - great for outdoor use or windy conditions - and spool gun welding. One machine for all your everyday welding needs.

What shielding gas should I use with the POWER MIG 211i?

For mild steel, use an argon/CO2 blend (C25: 75% argon / 25% CO2) or straight CO2. C25 produces cleaner welds with less spatter. The gas regulator and hose are included. The shielding gas cylinder is sold separately at your local supplier.

What is included in the box?

The box includes: 230V-to-120V power cord adapter, work cable and clamp, adjustable gas regulator and hose, gas nozzle, gun cable liner, spindle adapter, 2 lb spool of SuperArc L-56 MIG wire (EDO30631), drive rolls, and wire guide. Everything to start welding right away.

What warranty does the POWER MIG 211i come with?

The POWER MIG 211i includes the Lincoln Electric warranty: 3 years on the machine, 1 year on the welding gun. Polar also offers a 30-day satisfaction guarantee. Contact us at 1-800-567-3206 or info@equipementpolar.com.

How do I maintain the nozzle and contact tip?

After each session, remove spatter from the nozzle with a wire brush. Replace the contact tip when the opening is enlarged or irregular. A worn tip degrades weld quality. These are consumable parts not covered by warranty.

Is this welder suitable for farm or job site use?

Yes. The POWER MIG 211i was designed for maintenance and repair on the farm, in a small shop, or on Canadian job sites. At 41 lbs with multiple lift points, it's portable. Dual voltage 120V/230V means you can plug in anywhere.

Can this welder be used in cold Canadian winters?

Yes, with precautions. Avoid operating below -10C without warm-up time. If exposed to cold, allow 30 minutes at room temperature before starting. Store in a frost-free location and remove the wire spool in damp environments.
