Care and Usage

First Use

Installation of your new Zep industrial soap dispenser:

1. Choose the location:

Select a solid wall near a sink or washing area. Ensure the height allows for comfortable use, generally between 110 and 130 cm from the floor.

2. Attach the distributor:

Mark the drilling holes using the template provided. Drill the holes, insert the wall plugs, and securely attach the dispenser with the screws provided.

3. Install the soap bottle:

Remove the cap from the Zep 1-gallon bottle. Insert the bottle into the dispenser's proprietary slot, aligning the grooves. Press firmly until the bottle clicks into place.

4. Adjust the dosage:

Turn the adjustment screw located on the pump mechanism to select one of the 4 positions. Test by operating the handle several times to check the dispensed quantity and adjust as needed.

Weekly Interview

To maximize the lifespan of your industrial soap dispenser:

After each week of use:

  • Wipe the outside of the dispenser with a damp cloth to remove any splashes and residue.
  • Check that the soap bottle is not empty to prevent air from being drawn into the mechanism
  • Visually inspect the pump mechanism for any leaks or anomalies.

Pump mechanism management:

  • Operate the pump 2 to 3 times dry each week to maintain the smooth operation of the mechanism
  • If the pump becomes stiff, add a few drops of water to the piston to lubricate it.

Cleaning and Maintenance

Thorough monthly cleaning of the dispenser:

  1. Distributor body:

Clean anodized aluminum with a mild detergent and a non-abrasive cloth. Avoid harsh chemicals that could damage the finish. Dry thoroughly to prevent streaks.

2.Pump mechanism:

If dried soap is clogging the mechanism, disassemble the pump and soak it in hot water for 15 minutes. Rinse thoroughly and allow to dry before reinstalling.

3.Bottle notch area:

Use a soft brush to clean the inside of the bottle slot. Remove any dried soap residue that could prevent the bottles from fitting properly.

Recommended products: Mild detergent, warm water, microfiber cloths

Products to avoid: Abrasive cleaners, strong solvents, steel wool

Suggested frequency: Complete cleaning monthly or when the flow rate decreases

Precautions for Use

For your safety and optimal use:

  • Overloading the mechanism: Do not apply excessive force to the pump handle. Normal pressure is sufficient to dispense the soap. Excessive force could damage the internal mechanism.
  • Improper installation: Ensure the dispenser is mounted on a solid load-bearing wall capable of supporting its weight when filled (approximately 4 kg). Installation on weak drywall could cause it to detach.
  • Exposure to extreme temperatures: Although robust, avoid installing the dispenser in areas exposed to prolonged freezing or excessive heat exceeding 50 degrees Celsius. These conditions could affect the viscosity of the soap.
  • Use of incompatible soaps: Use only liquid soaps formulated for dispensers. Thick gel soaps or cleaners containing excessively large particles could clog the mechanism.
  • Cleaning with corrosive products: Never clean the dispenser with strong solvents, acids or concentrated bases that could damage the anodized aluminum or the seals.

Storage Tips

Dispenser storage:

Optimal conditions:

  • Store in a dry place at room temperature between 10 and 25 degrees Celsius
  • Avoid direct sunlight, which could discolor the nylon body.
  • If you need to store the dispenser, empty any remaining soap completely and clean the mechanism.
  • Store in its original box or wrapped in protective material to prevent scratches

With proper storage, the dispenser retains its mechanical properties indefinitely. The aluminum and stainless steel construction does not deteriorate over time.

Our answers to your questions about the Zep D-4000 industrial soap dispenser

How much soap does the Zep D-4000 dispenser release per press?

The volume dispensed depends on the adjustment position selected among the 4 available. In the minimum position, you get about 1 ml per press, ideal for highly concentrated soaps. In the maximum position, each press delivers about 3 to 4 ml, perfect for very dirty hands. The intermediate positions offer 1.5 ml and 2.5 ml respectively. This adjustment allows you to optimize consumption depending on the type of soap used and the level of dirt.

Recommended adjustment:

  • Position 1: Concentrated soaps, light use
  • Position 2: Standard daily use
  • Position 3: Moderately dirty work
  • Position 4: Heavy-duty workshop degreasing

Is the Zep D-4000 soap dispenser compatible with other soap brands?

No, the Zep D-4000 dispenser is designed exclusively for Zep square 1-gallon bottles with the proprietary notched design. The patented notch system prevents the use of standard bottles from other brands.

However, you benefit from a wide range of compatible Zep formulas:

  • Industrial microbead soaps for tough grease
  • Mild solvent-free cleaners for daily use
  • Antibacterial formulas for sensitive environments
  • Scented soaps to enhance user experience

This exclusive compatibility ensures optimal operation and prevents clogging issues caused by untested formulas.

How do you install the Zep soap dispenser on a wall?

Installing the Zep D-4000 dispenser is done in a few simple steps. Start by identifying the ideal location near a sink, at an ergonomic height between 110 and 130 cm.

Use the provided drilling template to mark the location of the two mounting holes. Drill the holes with a bit suitable for your wall type, insert the provided wall anchors, then firmly screw the dispenser in place.

For concrete walls, use expansion anchors. For drywall, choose toggle anchors capable of supporting a minimum of 5 kg. The included mounting kit fits most standard surfaces.

What is included with the Zep D-4000 dispenser?

Your purchase includes the complete Zep D-4000 dispenser with anodized aluminum body, preinstalled stainless-steel pump mechanism, and ergonomic handle. The wall-mount hardware kit includes the screws and anchors needed for installation on various surfaces. An installation and user guide in French helps you install and properly adjust your dispenser.

Not included:

  • Zep 1-gallon soap bottle (sold separately)
  • Installation tools (drill, level, pencil)

Refer to our Recommended Complementary Accessories section to order the soap bottles suited to your needs.

What is your return policy for the Zep dispenser?

Équipement Industriel Polar offers a 30-day money-back guarantee on the Zep D-4000 dispenser. If the product does not meet your expectations, contact our customer service at 1-800-567-3206 to obtain a return authorization.

The dispenser must be returned in its original condition and packaging for a full refund. Return shipping fees are your responsibility unless the product has a manufacturing defect.

After 30 days, the limited manufacturer warranty from Zep applies and covers material and manufacturing defects according to their terms. Always keep your purchase invoice as proof for any claim.

How do you maintain and clean the Zep D-4000 dispenser?

Maintenance is minimal thanks to its robust construction. Weekly, wipe the exterior with a damp cloth to remove residues and splashes. Monthly, perform a deep cleaning of the pump mechanism.

Monthly cleaning procedure:

  1. Remove the soap bottle
  2. Disassemble the pump mechanism
  3. Soak in hot water for 15 minutes
  4. Rinse thoroughly and let dry
  5. Reinstall and test the operation

Avoid abrasive cleaners, strong solvents, or steel wool which can damage the anodized aluminum. If the pump becomes stiff, a few drops of water on the piston will lubricate the mechanism. Refer to our Maintenance and Use section for detailed instructions.

Does the Zep D-4000 dispenser withstand Quebec’s climate and function in winter?

Yes, the Zep D-4000 dispenser is perfectly suited to Quebec’s climate when installed in a heated indoor environment. The anodized aluminum and stainless-steel construction withstand high humidity and the temperature variations typical of workshops and garages in Quebec.

Recommendations for cold climates:

  • Install in a heated area maintained above 10°C
  • Avoid installing near garage doors frequently opened in winter
  • If installed in an unheated garage, choose a specific antifreeze soap
  • The mechanism works without issue at normal room temperature

For installations in unheated environments, the soap may freeze below 0°C. In this case, allow the soap to reach room temperature before use or opt for freeze-resistant formulations available from Zep.
